If you’re looking to add a border to your number plate, there are a few things you need to know. You can choose any colour, but it must be a singular, solid, non-reflective colour. The border also needs to be continuous, meaning no gaps or breaks in the design, except for the manufacturer and BSAU that can intersect with the border.
When it comes to thickness, the border can be up to 5mm thick and must be at least 10mm away from the registration itself. Anything beyond these measurements could land you in trouble.
For show plates, you have much more flexibility. You can have different patterns, colours, and thicknesses, making them a great option for display purposes. Just keep in mind that these are not road legal and should only be used off-road and just for show.
